We raised 3 million EUR from Czech and Dutch investors last autumn, so my goal was pretty clear. I have to create strong management and scale up our product, marketing, and sales team. Also, I have to effectively invest the rest of the money to acquire new users, and ideally, open a small office in America to make our marketing and sales team even stronger. We have a plan to become the market leader in user behavior analytics and conquer America while doing so. Even today, the American market creates more than 30% of our MRR, and also other metrics such as ARPA, CLTV, and customer retention are significantly better than in other countries.
Let’s get back to why I’m writing this letter in the first place. Exactly when I found the last key persons for our team (Katka – Head of HR and Marek – COO) who completed the rest of the management team (Ondra – CTO, Jirka – Head of Finance, Michal – Head of Sales, Adam – Head of CS + 50 other great team members) and I was ready to fight, our current CMO – Lukas Mehnert reached out to me to announce that he would like to invest more time with his family than in fighting for the company. That’s why I’m currently looking for a new CMO who will take care of our marketing team and will help us show the world that even from Brno, it’s possible to manage a successful global analytics SaaS B2B company.

Lukas Mehnert joined Smartlook 5 years ago and did a really fantastic job here. He helped us to manage the whole marketing strategy for the company as well as achieving to raise our ARR from zero to an amazing €3 million. Lukas is an awesome marketing guy but also a loving father, so he’s decided to spend more time with his family, especially with his two small kids, and to try his hand at freelancing for a while. Although I am really sorry to hear about his departure, I totally understand and fully support his decision.

Our marketing team and its scope:
Currently, we have 7 people in our marketing team (the whole company has 61 people at the moment). Acquisitions are done primarily through our online channels and we invest millions of Czech koruna to performance marketing, that’s currently our main source for requiring new users and it helps us to generate thousands of signups and hundreds of demo requests. Top leads are matched with our sales team that consists of 5 people at the moment.

You’ve previous experience with leading a marketing team
You’re able to create complex marketing strategy and clearly communicate to the whole team
You’re a data-driven person and data are a base for your decision-making and reports
You’ve previous experience with online marketing from a B2B SaaS environment
Ideally, you’ve previous experience as a CMO and you’ve helped another SaaS company to grow from series A to series B fundraising
You’re able to find new acquiring channels
You’re fluent in English, both written and spoken
You’re curious about personal development and keen to learn new things
You’re willing to work with the rest of the team from Brno or commute to Brno from time to time (we’ll cover the relocation, if needed)
